CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound extracted from the cannabid sativa plant, which is known as marijuana or hemp, according to the US National Library of Medicine. It’s a naturally occurring molecule that has many health benefits, but does not have any of the psychoactive effects of THC, which people commonly think of in relation to the cannabis plant. Industrial hemp is a strain of the Cannabis sativa plant species, hemp and marijuana.
